I Saw an Old Photo Today

This was a photo when I was volunteering for the Bar exam in NSW as a law student.

I saw an old photo today when I was recovering my Twitter account. This was set as the background picture. Looking at this photo reminds me of my previous thoughts: to become a barrister one day. I am still practising law five years after graduation but my practising area is different from commercial litigation and I am becoming a construction lawyer.

I have been staying in construction law practices for over two years, and I still feel new to this practice area. It is easy to lose track of life when every day is new and dragging me in a different direction. Life has so many possibilities and so many options. Unfortunately, we only live once, therefore, my time, energy, and emotions are limited and I can’t try everything. It is hard to go back, and everything that happened in life has its meaning.

At many current moments, I made decisions with the flow that changed my future life forever. I believe that as long as I make a good enough decision today, I won’t regret it in the future. I had been questioning whether this was where I wanted to stay. It is hard to say no especially because I like my current firm, boss and colleagues.

Should I continue going with the flow or go towards a set direction? Maybe going with the flow in life as I did in the past is the best.
